The meeting was called to order by S/M President Boggs at 1830.

Members present were S/M’s Allison, Blizard, Boggs, Broussard, Erickson. Gray, Gorton, Melvin, Miethker, Nevgloski, Rogers and Siverson.

S/M President Boggs asked if there were any communications to be read. S/M Secretary Rogers indicated that the Branch received correspondence from Branch 024 on the East Coast Regional Mid-Year meeting being held in Richmond, VA from 17-19 February. Also included in the correspondence were two (2) $25.00 50/50 raffle tickets and $1.00 50/50 raffle tickets. The Branch received a request from the NCOA Down East Chapter #906 about the 2017 “Mack” Mckinney Awards on 3 March and asking the Branch to sponsor the event. This years recipients are MajGen Walter L Miller Jr, Commanding General II MEF and MGySgt Paul Levesque USMC (Ret). Received information on the Pearl Harbor Day Ceremony to be held at the American Legion Post 265 on 7 December commencing at 1100. Additionally, the Branch received more offers from the National Pen Company. Finally, the Branch received thank you cards from Christmas Cheer and the Soup Kitchen for our annual donations and a Christmas card from Jones Funeral Home.

S/M Rogers presented the Treasurer’s report. The report was accepted as presented.

S/M President Boggs asked if there was any Old/Deferred Business – S/M Miethker gave the Branch an update on the Americanism Essay Contest. He indicated that he received a total of 27 essays and that a committee viewed the essays and selected a first place winner for 7th through 12th grades. It was decided by the Branch to invite the essay contest winners to the Branch meeting in March to receive their awards. S/M Miethker also indicated that he attended the Onslow County Recognition for Veterans Organizations on 21 November and the Branch received a “Certificate of Recognition” from Onslow County.

S/M President Boggs asked if there was any New Business to discuss – S/M Rogers brought up the request by NCOA Down East Chapter #906 to sponsor the “Mack” Mckinney awards in March. The Branch decided to make a $150.00 donation. S/M Rogers brought up the raffles for the East Coast Regional Mid-Year meeting. The Branch voted to buy the two $25.00 50/50 raffle tickets. S/M Rogers brought up the correspondence received from the National Pen Company and it was decided by the Branch not to order any of the items presented.

Under “Good of the Order” – Please keep the following Shipmates/wives in your thoughts and prayers: George and Eunice Barrows, Martha Melvin (Liberty Commons), Rosa Lee Sporbert (Premier Nursing Home). There will be a public meeting to help understand the impact of the past exposure to contaminated water aboard Camp Lejeune from the 1950’s to the 1980’s at the Courtyard Hotel on Henderson Drive on 21 January from 1800-2000. There will be a 2017 Veterans Stand Down on 7 February from 1000-1400 at the American Legion Post 265 sponsored by NCWorks Career Center. NCWorks is also sponsoring a non-perishable food drive for the Veterans Stand Down from 6 January through 3 February. From 8-10 February, the Base will be celebrating the 76th Birthday of the 2nd Marine Division. Susan Smith in organizing a meeting on Alzheimers Disease and should go the end of January/beginning of February. More information will be provided on the date, time and place.
